A terrified pensioner awoke to find a balaclava wearing burglar in her Northampton ground floor flat.
The offender smashed a rear glass door before unlocking it and then searching the property in Harlestone Road, some time between 4.40am and 4.50am on Sunday (January 31).
The victim, aged 86, woke to find a man inside her flat who then escaped, taking with him a 32 inch JVC TV and some paperwork and letters belonging to the occupant.
He was dressed all in black and wore a black balaclava.
Police believe a vehicle may have been used due to the size of the television.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “The victim is elderly and vulnerable and suffers from heart problems and this break-in has had a dramatic effect on her. She now feels extremely unsafe in her own home.
