'Few want to fly less for green reasons'

Only high prices – and not environmental concerns – will persuade people not to fly so often, a survey of East Midlands residents has suggested.
It would take a £50 rise in return air fares for short-haul flights to make most people fly less often, a study by Loughborough University and presented at the Royal Geographical Society found.

More than half of the 605 residents questioned said aviation was a significant contributor to climate change, but just eight per cent were trying to fly less for environmental reasons.
