Night of swing at The Castle

Five Star Swing Band

Five Star Swing Band

The Five Star Swing band will be playing a host of big band jazz, swing and blues at The Castle Theatre this weekend.

The band, which has previously featured on BBC’s Children in Need and Dame Vera Lynn’s London Charity Ball, will be bringing their combination of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists to the venue for a night of feel-good music and fun.

Bandleader Chris Smith jnr said: “It’s great that there’s a real resurgence in this style of music, our last show Swing ‘n’ Sinatra sold out at the Castle.

“My father, Chris Smith senior played trombone with Frank Sinatra himself and the Ted Heath Orchestra, so I’m proud to be part of this on-going feel-good music.”

The evening will also feature Simone from the latter days of the Ivy Benson Orchestra, plus bandleader Smith, composer for BBC Radio Big Band and the Royal Variety Performance.

The Five Star Swing band play the Wellingborough venue on Saturday, January 28.

Doors open at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £16 and are available by calling 01933 270 007 or online at www.thecastle.org.uk
