Arsene Wenger insisted that Arsenal will not make a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given.
The player's lawyer last night issued a statement claiming that three clubs, believed to be Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotpsur, had expressed an interest in the Republic of Ireland international.

Wenger, though, was insistent that the Gunners were not interested in making a move for the player.

"As you know, it's part of agents' statements and work, I don't know why," the Frenchman said of the lawyer's remarks.

"I have high regard for Shay Given as a player, but we do not look for a goalkeeper."
