Jonathan Woodgate insists that Tottenham will have a 'big go' at closing the gap on the top four in the Premier League.
The centre-back says he is looking forward to helping Spurs develop under manager Juande Ramos.

And England ace Woodgate says Tottenham are aiming higher than fifth next season after a summer in which Ramos is certain to reshape the squad at White Hart Lane.

He feels Spurs have been closing the gap but admits it will take hard work to challenge the likes of Liverpool in the top four.

"We have players of Champions League quality but there's no point in saying it every week, we have to prove it," said Woodgate.

"Liverpool are a benchmark, they're a top side.

"They're 20-odd points ahead of us and that is a big difference but we'll have a big go next season. I'm sure the chairman will back the manager to buy some more players to build a strong squad here."

Woodgate, who arrived in January from Middlesbrough, is looking forward to his first full campaign under Ramos.

"I can't wait for pre-season and seeing what his methods are," he added.
