Tottenham are to spend £6.8m to sign Vedran Corluka, says The Times. Here are the leading sports stories in today's national newspapers.
THE TIMES
Tottenham Hotspur were last night on the verge of agreeing a £6.8 million fee to sign Vedran Corluka, which would take their spending on players this summer to more than £50 million. Also: Everton have denied that the club are for sale but
Bill Kenwright is prepared to vacate Goodison Park if he can find wealthy investors who can turn the team into title contenders.

Manchester United will try and convince Cristiano Ronaldo to stay one more season - by promising to then let him go for £65 million. Also: Tottenham are ready to smash the British transfer record with a sensational £32 million swoop for Valencia star David Villa.
