Former Northampton Town manager John Barnwell is among the front runners for Sheffield United's new head of football role.
The Blades have been turned down by Graham Taylor, while another former England boss, Steve McClaren is among the candidates.

Barnwell, a former chief executive of the League Managers' Association, made a handful of appearances for United during a playing career which also included spells at Arsenal and Nottingham Forest before taking charge of Peterborough, Wolves, Notts County, Walsall and Cobblers.

Barnwell also has experience of working in Greece and Saudi Arabia.
