Here are the Coca-Cola Championship stories making the news headlines today, Friday June 20, 2008.
Burnley: Gow say no to Turf Moor
Rangers forward Alan Gow has turned down the chance to join Burnley.

The 25-year-old former Falkirk player, who joined Rangers last summer, could not agree terms with Burnley, who had hoped he wou
ld move to Turf Moor as part of the deal which has taken Kyle Lafferty to Ibrox.

Gow's agent Phil McTaggart told the Daily Record: "Alan will be back at Rangers next season and will report for pre-season training next Wednesday to try and force his way into Walter Smith's plans."

Nottingham Forest: First up on TV
Forestwill kick-off their return to the Championship on TV after their home clash with Reading was chosen by Sky.

The City Ground meeting between two sides, who were two divisions apart last season, has now been switched to Sunday, August 10 and will kick off at 1.15pm.

Forest's home clash with Norwich on Saturday, November 22, will also be shown live on Sky with a revised kick-off time of 5.20pm.

Sheffield Wednesday: Laws close to new signing
Brian Laws has revealed Wednesday are close to making their first signing of the summer, but warned the club's fans not to expect too much movement before mid-July.

The Owls boss insists he is well aware of the downfalls in making quick-fire purchases at the start of the close season and wants to make sure the club bring in the right players - whether it be before their pre-season tour to Holland or after.

"We're hoping to breakthrough and make a signing very shortly, we've released seven players but we're looking to bring in at least a couple - central midfield if possible," Laws said.

Doncaster Rovers: 'I signed for O'Driscoll'
John Spicer insisted the chance to play for manager Sean O'Driscoll again played a huge part in his decision to join newly-promoted Rovers.

The midfielder attracted interest from a host of clubs after being released by Burnley, but opted to be reunited with O'Driscoll and assistant-manager Richard O'Kelly, both of whom he worked with at Bournemouth.

"I'm delighted with the move to be honest," Spicer said. "I watched Doncaster in the play-offs and I could see the way they moved the ball about, and I know Rich and Sean and I know they like to play football.

Bristol City: Boss confident of keeping players
Manager Gary Johnson is confident of keeping his best players at Ashton Gate despite interest from Premier League clubs.

Midfielder Marvin Elliot is the latest player to attract attention with Middlesbrough and relegated Derby both expressing an interest.

Johnson said: "I'm trying to build something here and I want to keep my best players, not sell them. The last thing I want is to be losing players to rival clubs."

Reading: Shorey rumours played down
Reading have played down talk that full-back Nicky Shorey will definitely be leaving the Madejski Stadium this summer.

Although Reading hinted they would listen to offers for the want-away defender last month, they now insist there are no guarantees in football.

Director of football Nicky Hammond said: "People are working on the assumption that Nicky Shorey will move on during the summer. But it simply hasn't gone that far. Nobody has made us an offer."
