Keepy-uppies in gardens and spaced out events for Northampton High School's virtual sports day

Northampton High School held a virtual sports day for pupils to compete and have fun on the field and at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Students at the Hardingstone school completed challenges including a standing long jump and keepy-uppies from their gardens over Zoom on Friday, June 26.

While primary school pupils, who are now all back in the classroom, had a socially-distanced sports day on the school field.

A school spokesman said: "With over 200 members of the school’s student body taking part in the event from ages four to 18, it was fantastic to see a whole community come together to celebrate tradition in a creative way.

"Although the students could not all be united physically, they were unified in spirit, as each competitor enjoyed the challenge and fun of this special event."

As well as the day-to-day teaching, Northampton High has used video conferencing technology such as Zoom to hold a number of successful virtual events during the lockdown period, including open daysand welcome evenings, with sports day the latest to go online.
