These are the shortlisted entries for Film Northants 2009. No Stone Unturned (Text vote NO STONE)


Synopsis: A history student follows a trail of clues to help put a spirit to rest.

Judges’ comments: This has a lovely build up of pace, beautiful shots and an intriguing storyline. It is definitely a case of actions speak louder than words.





The Intruder (Text vote INTRUDER)


Synopsis: A burglar gets more than he bargains for when he breaks into a family home.

Judges’ comments: This is funny, well shot and contains clever touches in the storyline and sound effects.





Tuhfah (Text vote TUHFAH)

Synopsis: A witty story with a political message which explores child exploitation in Asia.

Judges’ comments: This is a fully formed idea that has been clearly conceived from the outset. It is a strong idea very well produced.





To Whom It May Concern (Text vote TO WHOM)

Synopsis: A young man suffers from depression following the death of a friend.

Judges’ comments: A hugely personal film which is extremely emotive and features striking shots in an underpass, bedroom and outdoors.





Itch Dear Wil (Text vote ITCH)

Synopsis: A surreal animation of a man attempting to hide away from the real world.

Judges’ comments: Some may find this difficult to follow but you cannot deny that it captivates the viewer and you can’t take your eyes off the screen.





Death By Deafness (Text vote DEATH)

Synopsis: A bullied deaf girl struggles to cope with her disability which ultimately leads to a personal tragedy.

Judges’ comments: There is a strong message in this film and well placed use of flashbacks. There is also good use of different locations.






Counting on a Coincidence (Text vote COUNTING)

Synopsis: The separate worlds of a blind man and his neighbour collide, with amusing and miraculous consequences.

Judges’ comments: This is a very clever film which all fits together carefully. It uses a number of different camera techniques and draws the viewer in.





If Only I Could (Text vote IF ONLY)

Synopsis: A young boy dreams of winning a creative writing competition.

Judges’ comments: There is great transition between the scenes, it is creative and has lovely use of county locations.
