Unwanted clothes help fund project
GENEROUS Northampton people have helped to plant 25,000 trees in Zimbabwe by donating unwanted clothes to raise funds.
Planet Aid and the Zimwomen of Northampton teamed up to entertain shoppers at an event in Weston Favell Centre in December, which raised £5,000.
Since the event, the number of clothes donations made in that area of the town has doubled.
Last month Planet Aid planted 25,000 trees.
Planet Aid UK managing director, Birgit Soe, said: “More than 100 villages and 500 hundred school children were involved in the tree planting action that also educated the people in the villages about climate change and the importance of planting trees.”
