Pets need new homes

AN ANIMAL rescue centre is desperately appealing for people to adopt dogs and rabbits, as its shelter is overrun with abandoned pets.

Animals In Need in Little Irchester has had an influx of dogs and rabbits since Christmas and, with 64 dogs and 47 rabbits waiting to be re-homed, is struggling to take in any other animals due to a lack of space.

Annie Marriott, centre manager, said: “We desperately need these animals to be re-homed so we can take others in and they can survive.”

She said the influx of rabbits could have been due to the recent closure of Ashton Rabbit Rescue, and added: “It’s sad rescue centres in and around the county have had to close due to lack of funding.”

To adopt an animal or volunteer at the centre call 01933 278080.
