Guides celebrate 80 years as a unit

A NORTHAMPTON girl guide group marked 80 years as a unit with a party for more than 150 current and former members.

The 28th Northampton Guide group marked their anniversary with an event at their usual meeting place in Barry Road Primary School in Abington on Monday night.

Formers members of the group, which formed in 1932, and current girl guides got together to talk about the group’s history and former member, 89-year-old Nora Harrop, who joined when the group launched, also attended.

Guide guider Rosemary Reid said: “It was very interesting to talk about the group’s history and find out what former members are doing now.”
