Northamptonshire chief executive Mark Tagg has hit back at criticism of the club's recruitment policy.
Gloucestershire captain Jon Lewis accused Northants of treating England spinner Monty Panesar 'disgracefully' because of the number of South African players in the Steelbacks side.

He was one of a number of players who have raised the issue as a threat to the development of English cricket.

But Tagg, whose side fielded six South African-born players in the defeat of Glamorgan Dragons at the County Ground on Sunday, dismissed the concerns.

"The fans don't give a monkey's where their players are from," said Tagg after the victory that edged Steelbacks closer to a quarter-final spot in the Twenty20 Cup.

"They just want to see their team winning."
